About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemical Stockroom and Laboratory Manager to support the programs of the Department of Chemistry, Computer, and Physical Science at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the stockroom and laboratory, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are properly maintained.
  • Coordinate lab space, equipment, and undergraduate teaching assistance for Freshman teaching laboratories.
  • Order chemicals, supplies, and equipment as needed to maintain an appropriate inventory for routine operation of laboratories.
  • Maintain a perpetual inventory of stockroom chemicals and supplies and inform faculty how to access the database.
  • Monitor safety practices, obtain and maintain safety equipment and materials, including MSDS for chemicals.
  • Review, develop, and implement stockroom procedures that provide easy access and procurement of chemicals and equipment.
  • Act as a consultant to the faculty concerning available safety films and other safety materials.
  • Coordinate the university's chemical waste disposal.
  • Provide support for occasional activities on the weekends such as the Science Olympiad.
  • Maintain appropriate chemical hygiene in storage areas.
Additional Performance Responsibilities:

  • Safety: The employee works safely, attends safety training offered/required, and follows appropriate safety rules and regulations.
Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • Computer skills, knowledge of chemicals and safety rules, and operation of common laboratory equipment.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. in Chemistry or related field.
  • Experience as laboratory teaching assistance at the undergraduate or graduate level.
