Operations Manager Job Description

At Enviva, we are driven by our shared vision for a renewable energy future. As an Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and productive operation of our production facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Supervision: Direct and supervise line supervisory functions to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Facilitate communication between production staff and plant management to ensure a free flow of information and optimal operation.
  • Recruiting and Training: Recruit, train, and administer consistent policies and discipline measures for new hires.
  • Performance Management: Appraise the performance of supervisory staff and ensure timely completion of hourly reviews.
  • Operational Planning: Assist the Plant Manager in establishing operational objectives and strategies to meet corporate and divisional goals.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with workplace safety programs and organize cross-training for maximum production flexibility.
  • Process Improvement: Implement best manufacturing practices and support Lean Management initiatives.
  • Inventory Control: Develop and implement programs to control inventory, improve efficiency, and increase production.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 7+ years of supervisory experience in a production environment, preferably in the wood products industry, with Lean Six Sigma manufacturing experience required.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and Microsoft Office skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in outdoor environments, occasionally in extreme temperatures, and maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Physical Requirements: Willingness to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to 12 hours a day.
