Job Summary

Under direct supervision, the incumbent performs skilled work including incoming inspections, scheduled maintenance, repair, safety testing, and recording of functional test data. The incumbent will perform a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of a range of clinical equipment, and provide support and technical assistance to Biomedical Equipment Technicians II and III. The equipment worked on will be a diverse range of therapeutic and diagnostic biomedical instrumentation that tends to have a relatively low complexity and risk level.

Responsibilities
  • Perform incoming inspections, scheduled maintenance, repair, safety testing, and recording of functional test data.
  • Perform a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of a range of clinical equipment.
  • Provide support and technical assistance to Biomedical Equipment Technicians II and III.
  • Work on a diverse range of therapeutic and diagnostic biomedical instrumentation with relatively low complexity and risk level.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Background in electronics
  • Maintenance skills in electronics, mechanical or electromechanical device repair
  • Ability to read color codes on wiring and electronic components
  • Ability to comprehend and follow both written and oral communications
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, clinical and medical staff, and the general public
  • Elementary knowledge of e-mail, database management, spreadsheet, and word processor applications
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary
  • Ability to function in a sterile environment if necessary
  • Ability to keep accurate records
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology or equivalent work experience
