Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Yard Equipment Operator to join our team at Canam Bridges. As a key member of our steel fabrication team, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment to lift, move, and position steel components for painting and shipping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment such as cranes, hoists, and forklifts to move steel components safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to ensure proper functioning and report any defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of material movement and storage using our iPad operating system.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure timely completion of projects and meet departmental financial objectives.
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work area to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • 1-3 months of experience in heavy equipment operation or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to pass standard recognized tests required for crane operation.
  • Knowledge of trailer loading techniques and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to read and speak English fluently.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Environment

As a Yard Equipment Operator at Canam Bridges, you will work in a fast-paced steel fabrication environment with regular exposure to heavy equipment, moving mechanical parts, and outdoor weather conditions.

Physical Demands

The ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (up to 60 lbs), and perform repetitive motions is essential for this role. You will also need to have good vision, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
