Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Structural Fitter to join our team at Canam Bridges. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for fitting and assembling structural framework, components, and materials in various shapes, sizes, and designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Layout, position, align, and fit together the fabricated parts of structural components according to shop drawings or prints and layout specifications.
  • Operate cutting and heating torches, check camber and sweep tolerances of girders and beams, and make necessary corrections per pertinent codes and specifications.
  • Tack weld in all positions using multiple welding processes, grind parts, torque bolts, and operate mechanical and manual cutting equipment.
  • Produce a finished product that meets recognized standards, codes, and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures and practices.
  • Keep equipment and work areas clean and orderly, identify potential hazards, and make necessary corrections.
  • Assist in training efforts, mentor other employees, and work in a safe, professional, and conscientious manner.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective, professional, and courteous manner with customers, coworkers, clients, and supervisors.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience and/or training or equivalent or the combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess exceptional reading and mathematical skills.
Additional Information

The ability to stand continuously is essential, with occasional walking and sitting. The nature of the position will require employees to perform a wide range of physical activities, including pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying heavy objects, climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending, and handling. Repetitive motions and awkward body positioning are also required. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
