We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Raytheon Technologies. As a key member of our Mechanical Products Directorate, you will be responsible for designing and developing technical solutions for complex problems related to harness and interconnect systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement technical solutions for harness and interconnect systems, including proposal, design, prototyping, manufacturing, integration, and test.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and derive system requirements, define mechanical outline and construction details, and select connectors and specifications.
- Lead proposal efforts to meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for finished products.
- Develop and maintain technical data packages, including mechanical and assembly drawings, electrical layouts, and first-order electrical analysis.
- Interact with senior personnel on significant technical matters, requiring coordination between functional organizations and physical locations.
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or 8 years of prior relevant experience.
- A minimum of six (5) years of experience in the design and/or manufacturing of wire harnesses for military, aerospace, or commercial applications.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Ten (5) or more years of experience in the design and manufacturing of flex, rigid flex, and round wire harnesses for military and aerospace applications.
- Familiarity with the Creo Parametric modeling tool and drawing standards.
- Ability to work with and previous experience working with harness and interconnect manufacturers to support program needs and travel periodically to manufacturing facilities.
- Strong technical background with high technical aptitude.
- Experience with industry specifications such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, SAE AS22759, J-STD-001, Mil-PRF-31032, IPC-6013, IPC-2221, or IPC-2223.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Very strong verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills when working with team members and customers.
- Self-starter, ability to work independently.
- Must have a sound understanding of the design and manufacturing processes of harnesses and interconnects.
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
