Under direct supervision, the Senior Water Quality Chemist will conduct professional chemical and physical assessments of both raw and treated water to evaluate water quality and support processes that ensure the water is safe for consumption.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and standardize chemical solutions prior to water sample analysis.
  • Conduct standard analytical tests on water samples from various sources to identify and quantify essential characteristics (e.g., pH, chlorine levels, turbidity, etc.).
  • Perform tests on sediment and sludge to ascertain chemical composition.
  • Analyze treatment materials used in water filtration to confirm compliance with safety standards.
  • Interpret and document test results accurately.
  • Compile reports detailing the outcomes of testing initiatives.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of tests and analyses in line with regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist in specialized water analyses as needed.
  • Contribute to research aimed at enhancing water purification methods.
  • Support the determination of chemical dosages for purification processes.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment and materials meet established standards.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the minimum degree requirement.

Selection Process: Candidates will undergo an interview process. The candidate with the most suitable qualifications will be selected based on seniority as per the collective bargaining agreement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and chemical testing methodologies.
  • Background in water or wastewater compliance testing.
