The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex accounting activities, including financial analyses, month-end close entries, and debt tracking. A strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with accounting software are essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end close entries, including payroll transactions, deferred compensation, and bonus accrual
  • Reconcile various account balances and bank statements, identifying and resolving variances
  • Track debt drawdowns, calculate related principal and interest payments, and coordinate with Treasury
  • Maintain a timely three-way reconciliation of payroll transactions between the register, general ledger, and cash accounts
  • Analyze financial reports and records to ensure accurate accounting under GAAP and company policies
  • Assist in annual audit with external auditors, preparing and presenting requested reports and supporting documentation
  • Lead monthly meetings between Accounting and Payroll/HR departments to discuss payroll issues
  • Calculate and book allocation entries related to medical claims and IT expenses based on current month headcount and expense metrics

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Over three years of general accounting experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate environment
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP and financial analysis principles
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including Vlookups and pivot tables
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with accounting software and programs
