Director of Nursing Leadership Position

Job Summary:
The Director of Nursing is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality patient care. This leadership position requires a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to supervise the nursing team and ensure the implementation of effective healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serves as a role model and professional nurse, demonstrating excellent leadership qualities and organizational skills.
• Responds to all communication in a timely and professional manner, including voicemails, emails, and work cell phone calls.
• Ensures any outstanding or questionable issues are addressed and followed up as needed.
• Renders professional nursing guidance to nursing team members, adhering to accepted standards of nursing practice.
• Monitors, evaluates, and supervises the performance of nursing staff, providing coaching, mentoring, and constructive criticism as needed.
• Holds regular supervisory sessions with nursing staff, as well as team meetings to share best practices, policy updates, and review regulatory requirements.
• Provides education on medical issues and concerns to individuals, their families, and employees, as indicated on their plan of care and diagnosis.
• Monitors the medical states of individuals, adjusting their care and plans as appropriate.
• Ensures all medical care and documentation is completed in accordance with regulatory requirements and agency policy.
• Conducts routine reviews on medical care in sites.
• Ensures timely and accurate submission of all documentation to support compliance, including audits, treatment plans, physician orders, and other associated compliance needs.
• Reviews incoming reimbursement requests and acts as liaison with outside providers/vendors for appropriate billing/reimbursement.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements:
• AAS/BSN degree from an accredited Nursing school.
• 3-5 years of nursing experience, with a preference for experience supporting people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and management experience.
• NYS Driver's License and RN License.
• Ability to lift and transfer patients, perform CPR, and move around rapidly in small, confined areas.
