Job Overview

Position: Financial Accountant

Role Summary:

As a Financial Accountant, you will possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping practices, and accounts payable/receivable operations. Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously document all daily financial transactions for our organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee general accounting functions, financial reporting, and the preparation of financial statements in alignment with GAAP.
  • Manage the documentation of accounting processes and the monitoring of internal controls.
  • Assist in the collection of overdue payments.
  • Administer customer statements accessible through our online platform.
  • Process payments via credit card or check by phone as required.
  • Maintain records of tenant charges and payments.
  • Initiate transfers and ACH transactions within the online banking system.
  • Record and manage late fees.
  • Input data, maintain financial records, and generate reports and financial statements.
  • Document owner contributions and withdrawals, preparing and reviewing owner statements.
  • Record credit/debit card transactions and audit check runs.
  • Prepare, file, and clarify 1099s and other tax-related documents.
  • Notify clients of important upcoming deadlines.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Provide proactive reports and insights to stakeholders.
  • Prepare final owner statements and invoices for terminating owners.
  • Participate in office meetings and training sessions as directed.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting procedures and processes.
  • Uphold the company's customer service standards, addressing client issues and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Facilitate referrals across various departments.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably within the residential property management sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and email; experience with AppFolio property management software is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time exempt position (Monday – Friday). We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans. Additionally, we provide a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) accrual program based on tenure, along with 10 paid holidays annually for full-time employees.
