LPN Respiratory Care Specialist Night Shift

Welcome to WVU Medicine, where we're committed to providing exceptional patient care. We're seeking a skilled LPN Respiratory Care Specialist to join our team on a night shift basis.
Job Summary:
We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate LPN to provide direct patient care in an inpatient setting. As a Respiratory Care Specialist, you'll work closely with our team to deliver high-quality care and support to our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care, as outlined in the patient's plan of care, to promote comfort and return to functional health.
- Consult with the Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist to seek guidance in delivery of nursing care, as necessary.
- Perform designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.
- Accurately observe, record, and report to the overseeing role all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress in a timely manner.
- Assist physicians and the overseeing role with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
- Contribute to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data.
- Participate in the development of the patient's plan of care by providing data, contributing to the identification of priorities, and assisting in the identification of measures to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses.
- Assist in assigned patient and family education and rehabilitation by reviewing patient needs with the overseeing role and following the teaching plan.
- Document nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating to appropriate members of the health care team.
- Accurately and safely administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulization, and/or MDI delivered medications as assigned.
Requirements:
- Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Practical Nursing or appropriate state board where services will be provided.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal, if applicable, required for DHHR regulated area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year clinical experience.
Working Environment:
- Protracted or irregular hours.
- Exposure to biohazards, communicable diseases, and possible toxins, such as radiological and chemical.
- Working with or near the deceased.
- Working with hands in waters.
- Electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions and adapt to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Skilled with computer systems used by both physician offices and hospitals to capture data accurately and consistently.
- Ability to function as a team member in respect to organization, communication, and task prioritization.
