Job Summary

The Senior Product Engineer will be responsible for designing solutions for products and setting up product specifications to meet business goals. This role requires a strong understanding of product development, quality systems, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Development: Collaborate with design, test, manufacturing, and quality engineering team members to provide support.
  • Product Specifications: Establish product specifications to meet organizational goals.
  • Test Programs: Develop test programs, hardware, DVP&R.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze statistical data for new and sustaining products.
  • Product Release Documentation: Generate and manage product release documentation.
  • Cost Reduction: Drive cost reduction activities.
  • Product Issues: Work on resolutions to product issues using data analysis.
  • Train and Mentor: Train and mentor other engineers and supporting staff.
  • APQP Compliance: Ensure APQP compliance during engineering development activities.
  • CAD Data Management: Manage access to OE CAD data via various avenues.
  • Product Design Practices: Utilize and coordinate robust product designs practices within Engineering.
  • Customer Interface: Interface with customers to obtain technical requirements and engineering specifications.
  • Safety Initiatives: Support safety initiatives, policies, and procedures to ensure plant operations are safe and consistent with company standards.
  • Teamwork: Exemplify and foster teamwork within the company.
  • Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all applicable requirements and specifications imposed by the company, the customer, and/or the industry.

Requirements
  • Experience with concept to completion stage gate methodology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to travel (estimated 10%).
  • Critical thinking, analysis, and creativity.
  • Understanding of Product Data Management systems and workflow.
  • Experience in presenting gate reviews, gate packages, senior leadership product development reviews.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and quality requirements.
  • Familiarity with FEA and CFD tools.
  • Experience developing DFMEA's and DVP&R's.
  • Six Sigma experience highly desirable.
  • CAD experience a plus (especially SolidWorks).
  • Experience with lean principles.
  • Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline.
  • 10-years minimum experience in product engineering.
  • Good administrative, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and quality requirements.
  • Familiarity with FEA and CFD tools.
  • Experience developing DFMEA's and DVP&R's.
  • Six Sigma experience highly desirable.
  • CAD experience a plus (especially SolidWorks).
  • Experience with lean principles.
  • Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills.
