About the Role

Holcim (US), a leading provider of construction materials in the United States, is seeking a skilled Loader Operator to join our team at the Bladensburg, MD location. As a Loader Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, to load and unload materials in our rail yard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and Unloading: Safely operate heavy equipment to load and unload materials, including spotting and switching railcars, coupling and uncoupling railcars, and maintaining track areas and loading/unloading conveyors.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning the loader, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Safety: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Check and maintain all fluid levels, tire pressure, and grease hubs as described by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Train Operations: Determine the correct train moves to access the proper tracks and access different areas of the rail yard, and perform general railcar duties, including spotting, coupling railcars, and preparing railcars for loading and unloading.
  • Security: Secure rail car pockets for loading and ensure the safe movement of trains throughout the rail yard.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, such as heavy equipment operation or railcar maintenance.
  • Skills: Excellent oral communication skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail.
  • Training: Successful completion of the Brakeman's Training Course.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of federal and state regulations related to inspection and maintenance.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
