Craig's Doors is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Care Staff to join our team at our interim housing programs in Amherst and Hadley. As a Direct Care Staff, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and peaceful environment for our guests.

Responsibilities
  • Greet and direct visitors to the program site
  • Answer phone calls and conduct phone intakes for community members seeking placement
  • Monitor and document program activities in the daily log
  • Maintain accurate daily records, including shift summaries and incident reports
  • Clean and perform site maintenance tasks in accordance with CDC guidelines
  • Set up meal service and re-stock the snack table
  • Provide orientation to new guests and complete intake paperwork
  • Conduct regular perimeter checks of the facility
  • Collect and dispose of trash as needed
  • De-escalate guest conflicts and monitor guest smoke breaks
  • Daily inventory checks and report any needs to the Program Manager
Qualifications
  • Bilingual candidates preferred
  • Able to receive and follow directions
  • Demonstrates professionalism, empathy, and discernment in all situations
  • Able to work with diverse populations and sensitive to guests' needs and challenges
  • Able to problem solve on-the-spot and know when to bring in a supervisor
  • Uses discretion in handling confidential information
  • Collaborates with supervisors and fellow staff for the safety and success of the program
  • Experience with de-escalation and conflict resolution
  • Strong organizational and written skills, familiarity with navigating workplace software programs
  • Strong verbal communication and time management skills
  • Able to respond to health and safety emergencies and consult with supervisor when needed

Craig's Doors is a low-barrier, behavior-based, interim housing provider. We believe no one should be denied shelter due to an active substance use disorder. Our guests are welcome to stay provided they can respect the safety and well-being of everyone at the program site. In addition to shelter and meals, we provide case management services to help guests connect to resources such as housing, healthcare, government benefits, veterans assistance, recovery and detox, education and job supports, and resources for those fleeing domestic violence.
