Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Translator Per Diem Haitian Creole to join our team at IASIS Healthcare. As a key member of our staff, you will serve as a medical interpreter for patients and staff members, facilitating communication between speakers of two different languages.

About the Role

In this per diem position, you will provide consecutive, simultaneous, or sight translation services in Haitian Creole for all patients and family members who require language assistance. Your primary responsibility will be to relay medical information between speakers of two different languages, ensuring accurate and complete communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Relay medical information between speakers of two different languages in three different modalities: face-to-face, telephonic, and/or video interpreting.
  • Reduce linguistic barriers for patients and family members who are LEP, deaf, or hard of hearing seeking care at Steward Health Care.
  • Help facilitate successful delivery of services to linguistically diverse consumers.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have strong linguistic skills, including understanding regional accents and linguistic styles. You should also possess excellent writing skills, preferably in both English and Haitian Creole, and be able to explain hospital resources, office protocols, and limitations to clinicians and patients.
