Key Responsibilities:

The main function of this role is to support the administration of medications to residents as prescribed by their healthcare provider, under the supervision of nursing staff. This includes adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care and assisted living environments. You will be entrusted with the authority and accountability necessary to fulfill your responsibilities effectively.


Core Duties:

  • Identify and report any discrepancies in medication administration.
  • Complete administrative tasks, including necessary documentation and reporting.
  • Safely prepare, administer, and record oral and topical medications.
  • Ensure that any medications brought into the facility are properly assessed and identified.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate medication records.
  • Verify that all medications are correctly labeled.
  • Help document and dispose of discontinued medications appropriately.
  • Manage the return and reorder of medications as needed.
  • Accurately monitor and document residents' vital signs.
  • Observe and confirm that medications are taken or applied as directed.
  • Ensure that no medication is given without a valid, signed order.
  • Adhere to established protocols for the storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of residents' comprehensive assessments as required.
  • Understand and utilize common medical abbreviations and terminology related to medication administration.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current certification as a Licensed Nursing Assistant or completion of a recognized training program.
