Position Overview:

The CT Imaging Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality CT and Diagnostic X-ray imaging services to patients, following physician directives. This role emphasizes patient safety and the provision of superior testing. Responsibilities include preparing examination rooms and diagnostic equipment, conducting imaging tests while adhering to safety protocols, and processing the resulting images. The specialist must apply professional judgment and maintain medical ethics throughout the diagnostic process. Knowledge of growth and development principles is essential to address the needs of patients across all age groups, including geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics. Confidentiality for both patients and staff is paramount, along with adherence to sterile techniques. The role may involve significant physical demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostic Imaging: Execute quality imaging through established protocols and positions to accurately represent the anatomical area of interest while ensuring patient comfort. Demonstrate proficiency in cross-sectional imaging and produce images that meet radiographic standards. Assess images for technical quality and ensure proper identification is documented. Provide patient education tailored to age-specific needs and facilitate cooperation while alleviating anxiety. Verify procedures by checking physician orders and address any discrepancies with the appropriate medical staff. Prepare and administer contrast agents as necessary, ensuring all documentation is complete prior to procedures.
  • Customer Interaction: Deliver timely and expert services to patients, physicians, and colleagues in a friendly and professional manner. Communicate effectively about any delays and the measures being taken to address them. Promote patient-centered care in all interactions, ensuring quality service from preparation through to post-procedure education. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient and employee information.
  • Safety Protocols: Uphold safe radiation practices to minimize exposure for patients, self, and others. Adhere to established radiation safety procedures without deviation. Conduct necessary equipment checks before use and ensure compliance with patient and regulatory standards. Complete quality assurance and safety activities as required. Confirm patient identity by checking armbands to prevent repeat studies due to misidentification. Monitor patients during procedures and report any unusual changes in their condition. Assess allergy status and demonstrate a rapid response to any contrast reactions as per established protocols.
  • Professional Conduct: Observe patients during procedures and report any significant changes in their condition. Arrive on time for shifts, manage breaks appropriately, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Identify training needs among staff and contribute to the development of policies and procedures. Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure efficient performance of imaging procedures. Participate in shift rotations and on-call duties as assigned. Comply with all safety and health regulations, including those related to personal protective equipment and infection control.
  • Information Management: Ensure accurate entry of patient information into the departmental computer system as required. Select the appropriate patient account and complete necessary documentation for imaging procedures in the Radiology Information System (RIS).

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Graduation from an accredited radiologic technology program.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington)
  • Basic Life Support Certification

Additional Skills:

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer applications.

Preferred Experience:

  • One (1) year of experience in a hospital environment.
  • One (1) year of direct experience with cross-sectional anatomy.
  • One (1) year of recent experience in diagnostic x-ray procedures.
