LaSalle Network is partnering with a technology solutions company to find a skilled Mainframe Systems Programmer and Consultant to join their team. The ideal candidate will support ongoing projects, including the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and system software. This is a contract opportunity that can be done remotely. We support various employment arrangements, including W2, 1099, and C2C.

Mainframe Systems Programmer and Consultant Responsibilities:

  • Manage low-complexity assignments and provide oversight to ensure successful project completion.
  • Collaborate directly with hardware and software vendors to develop new solutions that meet client needs.
  • Analyze client software and requirements to determine cost-effective solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Provide problem analysis, resolution, and prevention documentation to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Configure z/OS components, customize PARMLIB and JES2, and implement changes in z/OS environments to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, and other related software to ensure efficient system management.

Mainframe Systems Programmer and Consultant Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in managing a mainframe environment within a large enterprise.
  • Experience installing and configuring ZMFA to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Advanced knowledge of z/OS, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, and Unix System Services (USS) to ensure efficient system management.
  • Experience installing software within USS to ensure smooth system operation.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and handle stressful situations to ensure project success.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to ensure effective collaboration and issue resolution.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and learning abilities to ensure successful project completion.
  • Knowledgeable in z/OS security and systems programming functions to ensure secure system operation.
  • Experience with DB2, CICS, IMS, Parallel sysplex, Catalog management, and REXX is a plus to ensure expertise in multiple areas.
  • Familiarity with z/OS HW, LPAR, HMC, and Dynamic Workload Console is a plus to ensure expertise in multiple areas.
