Position Overview

About this role:

The External Reporting North America team is seeking a Staff Accountant. This position offers a valuable opportunity to join an organization and team that will help you develop the financial reporting expertise necessary for advancing your career. Reporting directly to the Controller North America, you will gain essential skills to excel in this role. You will collaborate with a team responsible for the regulatory reporting of multiple Property & Casualty reinsurance entities as well as additional components within the U.S. holding company structure. This role provides the chance to engage with personnel across all levels and locations within the organization. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in coordinating and analyzing local quarterly and annual regulatory submissions, including the Annual/Quarterly Statements to the NAIC/State Regulators and Annual/Quarterly Statement to OSFI (Canadian Regulator).
  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual Audited Financial Statements on a USSTAT basis and IFRS (Canada) basis, ensuring close collaboration with external auditors.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of the USGAAP, USSTAT, and IFRS (Canada) financial statements.
  • Prepare reconciliations between the Clearwater Investment System and USSTAT Financial Statements.
  • Support the quarterly federal tax provisioning for all U.S. non-life tax filers.
  • Assist in the preparation of various data requests (RAA, BEA).
  • Support various tax submissions (Federal, FET, Sales/Use Tax, State and Local).
  • Assist in producing legal entity plans and capital forecasts.
  • Review and aid in the preparation of board materials.
  • Ensure accuracy checks and documentation are completed with the utmost quality and timeliness, and that all controls are adhered to.
  • Collaborate on Group projects with colleagues located in other PartnerRe offices.
Qualifications:

About you:
  • A College/University Degree in Accounting is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of accounting/reporting experience, preferably in the insurance/reinsurance sector.
  • Familiarity with USSTAT (SSAP) and USGAAP accounting standards; knowledge of IFRS (Canada) is a plus.
  • A general understanding of insurance/reinsurance principles and statutory requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and wDesk.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • A solid work ethic with a commitment to continuous improvement.
