Key Responsibilities of a Parts Assistant:
- Efficiently issue parts and supplies to technicians while minimizing costs.
- Process purchase orders in accordance with company policies for approved suppliers.
- Ensure procurement from the most economical vendors.
- Maintain stock levels and distribute parts to technicians and drivers as necessary.
- Deliver parts to designated areas and manage returns.
- Charge parts to repair orders and uphold inventory management standards.
- Ensure accurate billing to owner operators and customers through the maintenance Repair Order system.
- Report any discrepancies in inventory, shortages, or pricing to the Parts Manager and Service Manager promptly.
- May involve loading and unloading delivery trucks manually or using a forklift.
- May require operation of class 8 vehicles to support shop operations.
- Previous parts experience is advantageous.
- Proficient keyboarding skills, valid driver's license, and general city knowledge are essential; Forklift Certification is required.
- Physical demands include lifting over 50 lbs, bending, twisting, and walking to deliver parts.
- Forklift operation may be necessary for loading and unloading tasks.
