About Us: Founded by Colonel William Boyce Thompson in 1924, the Boyce Thompson Arboretum is a premier destination for anyone interested in arid landscapes, boasting 372 acres of stunning gardens and trails, attracting over 145,000 visitors annually.
We require an individual with a Bachelor's degree in botany, horticulture, or a related field and at least three years of experience working with living collections in public gardens. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as a deep understanding of arid plant ecology and horticulture best practices. A valid AZ driver's license and clean driving record are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement plans for the strategic growth of the Horticulture Department.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop programs that support the arboretum's mission and goals.
- Provide expertise on arid plant ecology and best practices in horticulture.
- Manage and maintain the arboretum's collection of plants, ensuring their health and proper maintenance.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in horticulture.
