Job Summary

The University of Tennessee is seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to join its Facilities Services Department. As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, test, and maintain electrical systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, and electrical panels.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of electrical systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Collaborate with contractors and other crafts to complete electrical projects.
  • Train craft assistants as needed to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity.
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License
  • High School Education
  • Two (2) years experience along with technical training in industrial electricity OR Four (4) years as a journeyman electrician with no technical training
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good working knowledge of electrical systems
  • Ability to read blueprints and choose materials
  • Ability to work on live electrical components when necessary
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, under adverse conditions, and in high places
  • Ability to perform hard physical work for long periods
  • Good hand and eye coordination
  • Mechanical aptitude and good knowledge of industrial electricity
