Medical Care Specialist

A Medical Assistant provides quality patient care by assisting the physician with clinic-specific tasks, including rooming, vitals, injections, and point-of-care testing and treatment. The Medical Assistant follows Madison Medical specific standards of practice, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Escort patients to exam rooms as scheduled, complete brief histories through appropriate documentation, and obtain accurate vital signs.
- Stay current on electronic health records (EHR) changes and ensure appropriate and effective documentation in patient records.
- Ensure excellent and timely care for patients - manage phone calls and messages efficiently, check EHR and email regularly.
- Organize and prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment.
- Administer routine medications, including immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, and topical agents.
- Provide basic patient education.
- Refill medications or obtain prior authorizations according to MD protocols or as directed by physician.
- Schedule appointments as needed.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program, or military equivalent, or demonstrated skills in capacity for at least one year.
- Current Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong data entry skills and ability to work with computer applications.
- Organized with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong and comfortable communicating with patients, peers, and physicians.
- Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and with co-workers in a team.
