Job Summary

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Buyer to join our team. As a Pharmacy Buyer, you will be responsible for coordinating the medication procurement process, maintaining inventory stock levels, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure, receive, and administer the inventory of controlled pharmaceuticals
  • Communicate shortages of medications or changes in stock availability to appropriate pharmacy staff
  • Alert leadership of changes in buying trends, including any unusual use of drugs
  • Purchase all pharmaceuticals for the assigned pharmacies
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement
  • Receive and verify shipments from vendors and suppliers
  • Keep abreast of contract changes and prepare vendor shipment returns
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of drugs and supplies and control inventory to meet established budgetary constraints
  • Coordinate disposal of all expired medication and maintain invoicing for all drug and supply accounts
  • Prepare department for annual inventory which includes updating shelf labels, inventory supply forms, and databases
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Active FL Registered Pharmacy Technician License
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary
