Law Enforcement Training Opportunity
The City of Wilmington, NC is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of Police Trainee. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start a career in law enforcement and make a positive impact in our community.

About the Opportunity
This is an entry-level position that requires no prior law enforcement experience. As a Police Trainee, you will be responsible for learning the skills and procedures necessary to become a certified police officer. You will participate in training at the Wilmington Police Department's training facility and work alongside experienced officers to gain hands-on experience. The selected candidate will be considered for participation in the Police Academy beginning in July 2025. Upon completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training, employees are moved into a sworn law enforcement role starting at $46,176.00 annually.

Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities as a Police Trainee will include responding to citizen calls for service, providing a police presence in the community to encourage citizens to feel safe, conducting law enforcement activities and operations, and investigating crimes. You will also be required to attend regular training sessions and participate in physical fitness exercises to prepare yourself for the demands of being a police officer.

Requirements
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:
  • Be at least 20 years old
  • Hold a valid driver's license
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
