Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School is on the lookout for full-time Educational Support Specialists who are passionate about fostering academic achievement for students with diverse needs. This role offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $55,000 to $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Our specialists work Monday through Friday, from 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, with a modified schedule during the summer months and designated time off.
We provide an extensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance from the first day of employment; up to 7 weeks of paid school breaks annually; 6 days of paid personal leave; 10 days of paid sick leave; and 11 paid holidays. Additionally, we offer company-sponsored short-term and long-term disability insurance, basic life and AD&D insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with Roth options, FSA, HSA, an employee assistance program, a 529 college savings plan, and a tuition reimbursement program for further education.

A DAY IN THE ROLE OF AN EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST
As an Educational Support Specialist, you will leverage your expertise and training to inspire students and ignite their enthusiasm for learning. Your primary responsibilities will include planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each student based on their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). You will create a dynamic classroom environment that fosters meaningful connections and promotes successful learning outcomes.
Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to collaborate effectively with parents, colleagues, and other key stakeholders during essential meetings and school events. Your creativity will be encouraged as you contribute to the school's therapeutic environment by sharing innovative ideas and enhancing our programs and culture. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation, including compliance reports and IEPs, that reflect your understanding of your students' needs. Your commitment to a strength-based educational approach will empower students to recognize their unique learning styles.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Illinois Special Education License (LBS1) is required.
- A background in elementary education or a core content area in secondary education is necessary.
- A Master's degree is preferred.
- Experience working with students with Emotional Disabilities and/or Autism is advantageous.
