About the Role

Eversource Energy is seeking a highly skilled Transmission Planning Senior Engineer to join our dynamic and collaborative team. As a key member of our Transmission System Planning group, you will play a critical role in planning and developing an efficient and reliable electrical transmission grid across the New England region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform and lead regional and local reliability and/or market-driven studies, including voltage, thermal, PV, transfer limit, short circuit, and stability assessments.
  • Analyze and assess complex transmission systems at various voltage levels, documenting and communicating results and recommendations as appropriate.
  • Continuously strive to innovate and integrate improvements to increase the precision and efficiency of transmission planning, seeking out and developing subject matter expert skills as necessary to mentor and support the team.
  • Represent Eversource, collaborate, and interact with internal teams and industry peers on regional activities, such as NERC, NPCC, ISO-NE, and Regional Transmission Organizations.
  • Develop and apply a thorough understanding of various planning criteria, guidelines, standards, and analysis software packages, including PSS/E, TARA, and ASPEN.
Requirements
  • BSEE required, with additional consideration given to applicants with Advanced Degrees or Certifications (e.g., MSEE, PE, etc.).
  • At least 8 years of experience in the power industry, with a strong preference for those with experience in Transmission Planning.
  • Desired technical skills include T&D Power Systems Engineering, Power System Studies, Software Proficiency in Power System Analytics, and Knowledge of Regional/Local Criteria & Compliance.
