Compensation:
$20/hr. - $22/hr.

Role Description:


As an After School Program Facilitator, you will lead elementary-aged participants in a variety of engaging activities, including sports, arts, STEM, and other hands-on learning experiences within a Before and After-School Enrichment (BASE) program. This initiative is designed to offer a secure and nurturing environment for students beyond the classroom.

Your role will involve teaching teamwork and social-emotional skills to children as they develop, while promoting skill acquisition, creative exploration, physical activity, and most importantly, enjoyment.


Work Schedule:
Hours will vary by location, typically Monday – Friday from early morning until the start of school and after school until evening.

The YMCA also provides full-day programming on non-school days and early release days.

Health Requirements:

In accordance with state regulations, MMR vaccination is required for licensed school-age programs.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement culturally relevant and age-appropriate activities aligned with the YMCA's Youth Development goals.
  • Supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety, providing a positive experience for each participant.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding day-to-day activities and confidential matters.
  • Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and developmentally appropriate environment, including the appearance and cleanliness of the site.
  • Prepare and serve snacks, ensuring cleanliness in the snack area.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to communicate effectively.

Frequent standing, walking, and the use of hands for various tasks are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The role may require occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds.


Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 16 years old; 18 years or older preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with children in settings such as camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
  • Ability to exemplify YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
  • Experience in planning and executing group activities.
  • Completion of required training and background checks as mandated.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in languages other than English is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
