Aircraft Maintenance Manager Job Description

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance of aircraft and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage assigned aircraft maintenance lines using production schedules, labor analysis, and budgetary information.
  • Utilize resources to manage entire projects for the maintenance, preventative maintenance, or alteration of aircraft.
  • Oversee product quality while ensuring maintenance tasks and functions are carried out in compliance with the applicable requirements of the air carrier maintenance program and its inspection procedures manual.
  • Ensure direction of maintenance programs is consistent with ATS goals and targets.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control to assure that aircraft maintenance is performed and carried out in accordance with approved Federal Aviation, Manufactures, Customers and ATS procedures and requirements.
  • Review customer program and FAA regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Manage the overall maintenance, preventative maintenance, or alteration of, or approve and return to service any aircraft or part thereof.
  • Ensure communication of all significant information, including work, risk, safety and quality.
  • Ensure coordination with internal support organizations to provide necessary product and services when required.
  • Ensure Engineering priorities support aircraft delivery milestones.
  • Ensure all assigned areas are clean and audit ready and clear of hazards that pose a risk to employee safety and quality of work. Ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Directly responsible for the on-time delivery and adjustments of aircraft delivery schedules.
  • Monitor crew completion dates and hours estimates for inclusion in daily labor tracking.
  • Responsible for labor hours and part expenditures.
  • Ensure coordination of maintenance labor requirements in conjunction with other maintenance lines, to ensure most efficient utilization of labor and resources.
  • Coordinate LOW when all utilization options are exhausted.
  • Provide a positive interface with the customer.
  • Directly responsible for the Profit/Loss (P/L) of maintenance programs, achieving performance targets. Communicate budget plans with team.
  • Responsible for successful progression of mechanics through On-the-Job Training (OJT) program.
  • Review recommendations and implement changes to processes to improve efficiencies and workflow.
  • Comply with, communicate and ensure compliance of team members on ATS policies, procedures and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements. Promote “Balanced Technician” concept.
  • Provide mentorship and training support to future and less-experienced managers.
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of all performance reviews, identifying career goals and development needs.
  • Provide regular feedback and performance coaching including appropriate management of time, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring proper knowledge and training to accomplish assignments to all members of maintenance line.
  • Responsible for adhering to all ATS required training.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements:
  • Airframe, or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' recent commercial aircraft maintenance and/or MRO experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' aircraft maintenance supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of personnel both internally and within customer organizations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written documents.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of variables.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks from multiple projects at one time.

  • Proven knowledge in the procedures, practice, inspection methods, materials, tools, machine tools, and equipment generally used in the work which the station is rated.
  • Detailed knowledge of paperwork and publications and an understanding of technical information in order to facilitate troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of FAA regulatory requirements to include FAR Part 121 and 91 carriers.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • General working knowledge of Oracle, AutoTime, Gateway programs.
