Position Overview:
Job Summary:
As a pivotal member of the engineering team, you will oversee all technical aspects related to the execution of designated projects. This role requires adept coordination of engineering initiatives, ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints, timelines, performance metrics, and certification standards. You will play a significant leadership role, influencing technical decisions and fostering innovation within the organization. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining adherence to contractual obligations, product specifications, FAA regulations, and quality benchmarks. Continuous improvement of processes and team discipline will be essential in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Define, manage, and provide technical guidance for commercial or military projects within the Engineering Department, ensuring compliance with cost, quality, and delivery (QCD) standards.
2. Apply and manage the system engineering (stage gate) process for product development, serving as a key point of contact for project status and direction.
3. Track engineering projects from conception through to final implementation and approval, defining project scope based on customer-provided Statements of Work (SOW).
4. Generate resource plans, maintain schedules, and provide regular status updates to Engineering and Project Managers.
5. Develop technical documentation, including plans and reports, to support project processes.
6. Create technical quotes for Engineering Support Requests (ESR) and ensure projects remain within budget and schedule by adhering to documented requirements.
7. Collaborate with Engineering Manager and Certification Manager to determine project staffing and technical needs.
8. Coordinate certification requirements and provide technical support for fabrication and testing activities.
9. Mentor and lead team members to facilitate timely problem resolution and adherence to schedules.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
- 7-10 years of experience in project/program management.
- 7-10 years of experience in project management, design, analysis, and certification of aircraft systems.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field.
- 7-10 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Professional Engineer certification or a Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of design and manufacturing processes.
Skills:
- Strong business acumen and ability to navigate complex business situations.
- Excellent multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment with keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively at all levels.
Technical Proficiencies:
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
