About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will perform procedures under the medical director's oversight, ensure quality and efficient clinic service delivery from patient intake to visit completion, and build the clinic's administrative capacity to serve its intended population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patients with a high level of clinical service, from visit preparation, visit assistance, and follow-up activities.
  • Meet with clinicians for a daily morning huddle to review schedule and plan for the day.
  • Prepare patients for medical examination, including measuring vital signs, collecting patient history, and chief complaint.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patients and their families, adhering to HIPAA compliance.
  • Assist with insurance and other payer contracting, submitting and following through on service authorizations as needed.
  • Oversee and implement billing, ensuring the clinic's compliance with applicable health care quality requirements.
  • Organize meetings and work closely with other programs in the agency to ensure the clinic is highly integrated.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a medical assistant in a medical practice or clinic and/or certified in California as a Medical Assistant by a MA certification program and the California Department of Public Health.
  • Experience performing phlebotomy, trouble-shooting difficult sticks, and medication injections.
  • Proven ability to be highly organized and task-oriented, consistently paying attention to details.
  • Sensitivity to issues affecting LGBTIQQ and communities of color.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think analytically and creatively to solve day-to-day problems.
