Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team at American Medical Response (AMR). As an EMT, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and transportation services in emergency situations.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and Respond: Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action and appropriate protocol.
- Provide Medical Care: Utilize medical equipment and procedures, including defibrillators, EKG monitors, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR, and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care.
- Triage and Prioritize: Develop and utilize triage skills to provide optimal efficiency during calls.
- Patient Care: Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
- Communication: Communicate with receiving facilities to receive medical direction and provide critical information.
- Team Leadership: Act as a team leader and take responsibility for scene and unit management as needed.
- Transportation: Drive the ambulance and provide map reading support to minimize call response time.
- Certifications and Training: Continuously maintain all required certifications.
- Unit Maintenance: Monitor and maintain the general condition of the unit, keep it clean and stocked for optimal call response to maintain the image of the company.
- Documentation: Document activities with regard to patient care and billing completely to ensure appropriate information is available regarding each call.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical Agility: Must be able to successfully pass a Physical Agility Test.
- Aptitudes: Aptitudes required for work of this nature are good physical stamina, endurance, and body condition that would not be adversely affected by frequently having to walk, stand, lift, carry, and balance at times.
- Lifting and Moving: Must be able to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types of equipment and other objects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Some advanced education preferred.
- Licensure: Current state Paramedic License and maintain currency.
- Driver's License: Possess a valid State Driver's License.
- Certifications: Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS or PEPP, BTLS or PHTLS Provider Certification and maintain currency.
Working Conditions and Mental/Physical Requirements:
Working Conditions: Available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays, extended workdays.
Physical Demands: Moderate to extended amounts of sitting, standing, and walking.
Mental Requirements: Critical thinking skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
