Compensation Range: $18.00-$23.00/hr based on experience
Role Summary
As a Legal Support Specialist for Youth Immigration, you will be instrumental in our Immigration Program, providing essential administrative assistance and working closely with clients under the supervision of our legal professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Mission Commitment: Support the mission of Catholic Community Services of Utah (CCS) and the immigration and refugee resettlement initiatives.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative functions, including managing client records (both digital and physical), scheduling meetings, communicating with clients, and conveying messages for legal staff via electronic and telephonic means.
- Paralegal Assistance: Execute paralegal responsibilities under the guidance of legal staff. This includes direct client interactions, gathering necessary documentation and information for legal forms, collecting client responses to questionnaires, and managing application submissions.
- Eligibility Communication: Effectively relay information to clients and community partners regarding eligibility for CCS Immigration Program Services.
- Rights Education: Facilitate Know Your Rights presentations and legal screening interviews for minors as required.
- Case Management: Accurately document all case activities in the client's file or the electronic filing system.
- Language Services: Provide interpretation and translation services as necessary.
- Confidentiality Maintenance: Uphold strict attorney/client confidentiality.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- This position is situated in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Requirements
- While primarily a sedentary role, some filing tasks may require lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and occasionally bending or standing as necessary.

Education and Experience
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree, Paralegal Certification, or equivalent experience.

- Data Entry Skills: Competence in keyboarding and accurate data entry.
- Office Management Understanding: Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
- Immigration Law Experience: Preferred experience in immigration law.
- Child-Related Experience: Preferred experience working in a law office or with children.
Background Check Requirement:
- Must successfully pass a national BCI/FBI background check.
Licenses and Certifications:
- None required.
Position Status and Schedule:
- The typical work schedule includes up to 20-25 hours distributed between Monday and Friday, with work hours falling between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM. This schedule is flexible to accommodate your availability.
