About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join our team at Toole Design Group in Silver Spring, MD. As a key member of our Civil Engineering Group, you will be responsible for leading and managing projects, developing construction documents, and collaborating with clients and colleagues from various disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage projects from concept to construction, including stakeholder outreach, feasibility studies, and construction document preparation.
  • Develop and implement sustainable multimodal transportation solutions, including roadway design, drainage design, and geometric design.
  • Collaborate with clients and colleagues to deliver high-quality projects that meet the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race, or gender.
  • Participate in business development and project pursuits, and play a key role in the firm's quality initiatives.
  • Manage and lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate utility and right-of-way impacts, and ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
Requirements
  • Professional Engineering license in MD (other Mid-Atlantic states a plus)
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering
  • At least 15 years of engineering experience developing construction documents and/or public agency construction administration
  • At least 5 years serving in a project and/or design management role
  • Broad knowledge base in civil engineering, with specific experience in roadway design, drainage design, geometric design, 3D modeling, and design of accessible public spaces
  • Proven track record of past performance delivering multiple large/complex projects on time and on budget
  • Experience developing construction documents, preparing transportation and local agency permit documents, and leading multidisciplinary teams
