Job Overview

Position: Financial Accounting Manager

Location Requirements: The preferred candidate should reside within a 50-mile radius of our designated Elevance Health locations. This role will adopt a hybrid work model, requiring in-office attendance 1-2 times per week. Candidates within 50 miles of an Open Access Pulse Point in the Eastern or Central time zones are also eligible for consideration.

The Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing accounting and project teams, ensuring the smooth execution of month-end and quarter-end accounting, reporting, and analytical functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Review journal entries and reconciliations, along with monthly and quarterly financial reporting and comprehensive analysis of financial outcomes. Prepare and present financial reports and analyses to senior management. Manage SOX compliance and other internal control measures. Lead and coordinate critical projects, prepare internal management reports, and oversee internal and external audits. Recruit, train, mentor, and assess the performance of direct reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

A BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, along with a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in a Controller or senior financial management role within a medium to large insurance organization; or a combination of education and experience that provides an equivalent background.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA, CFM, or CMA certification is preferred. An MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
