About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced e-commerce procurement specialist to join our team at HomeWetBar Gifts. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for trends, excellent negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of the retail industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze market trends and consumer preferences to identify potential products and suppliers.
- Conduct competitor and cost analysis to ensure items are priced correctly and displayed accurately.
- Source, find, obtain, and procure products from overseas suppliers, taking into account all variables, duties, taxes, and transit costs.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Initiate purchase orders for products, raw materials, and other supplies; forecast demand and production schedules.
- Use independent judgment to expedite or defer orders as required based on sales/schedule changes.
- Ensure compliance of quality, safety, packaging, and timeliness standards by overseas and domestic suppliers.
- Obtain samples that match specifications, and evaluate the quality and suitability of products.
- Input/track orders and resolve delivery issues with vendors.
- Recommend advertising opportunities to sales based on inventory levels and purchasing opportunities.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts.
- Manage inventory levels to optimize stock turnover and minimize excess stock.
- Develop product assortments and gift sets, pitch concepts and promotional strategies to the merchandising team.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance to inform future purchasing decisions.
- Own the financial outcomes for the performance of the products.
- Regularly assess performance and revise assortment as needed.
- Rebidding of products increases efficiencies and lowers costs.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in retail buying, or alternatively, a Master's degree in the same field with at least 3 years of experience in retail buying.
- The candidate should possess strong analytical skills and be proficient in using data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate pricing and terms with vendors is essential.
- The candidate must be capable of working independently and making well-informed decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are critical for this role.
- Proficiency in the Google/Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is necessary.
- Knowledge of retail software and inventory management systems would be advantageous.
