Plug Grower

Dan and Jerry's Greenhouses is a family-owned wholesale producer of annuals, perennials, herbs, and vegetables. We partner with retailers to support their garden centers throughout the Midwest, Northeast, and South Central U.S.

The Plug Grower will participate in plug growing activities, working with the Growing Manager and staff to ensure products meet superior quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage plant health by determining nutrient and moisture requirements for each plant variety.
• Destroy undesirable growth and pests using herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides, following regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain quality results by following and enforcing standards set by the Head Grower.
• Manage assigned crops in a controlled environment.
• Track chemical sprays and record applications as required.
• Manage lights and temperatures to achieve finish dates.
• Train Growers on Plug growing and maintenance.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED.
• 2-5 years Plug Growing experience.
• Applicator's license.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a production and greenhouse setting with few physical hazards. Employees will spend most of their time working side-by-side with colleagues in a warm, humid environment.
