Job Summary

East Coast Repair and Fabrication is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a Crane Specialist, you will be responsible for the safe operation of cranes to lift, move, position, and reposition loads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate cranes under general supervision to ensure safe and efficient lifting and moving of loads.
  • Manipulate crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
  • Repair and maintain cranes as needed to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct pre-operational checklists of cranes prior to operations each day to identify any potential issues.
  • Determine if any parts are malfunctioning and report to supervisors.
  • Complete job tickets, service quality summaries, and other necessary paperwork to ensure accurate records.
  • Lift, position, and place machinery, equipment, or other large objects at job sites or facilities.
  • Place blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy loads.
  • Operate cranes according to signals from helpers and follow directions carefully.
  • Conduct safety briefs with crews on site prior to operations each day to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Walk job sites with Rigging Foremen or Supervisors to identify hazards or risks prior to operations each day.
  • Only operate cranes in accordance with training and certification, and per the Operator Manual and procedure.
  • Stop operations for any unsafe issue and place cranes in a safe condition at the end of operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a standard apprenticeship/trade/vocational school.
  • High school diploma or GED required and 3 or more years of related experience or equivalent of training and experience.
  • NCCCO Certifications required.
  • Class B Drivers License Required, Class A preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and hand signals.
  • Ability to gain access to military installations.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent eye-hand coordination.
  • Must pass a drug test and background check.
