Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Hampton Roads Contracting, Inc. is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, forklifts, excavators, and aerial equipment to the quality and safety standards established by Hampton Roads Contracting, Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect equipment/machinery for safe day-to-day operation and for general maintenance needs.
  • Clean, maintain, and secure all equipment as directed by management and company policies and procedures.
  • Operate heavy equipment to complete construction projects.
  • Perform excavating and grading.
  • Interact with construction general laborers and/or crew members who are facilitating alignment, movement, and adjustment of the equipment to complete the specifications for the construction project.

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Class A CDL preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend construction plans.
  • Substantial experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work long hours.
  • Significant knowledge in the safe practices of operating heavy equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and demeanor.
