Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused care by executing a range of assigned basic patient care tasks. Collaborating with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals, the LPN provides tailored, comprehensive care in line with established standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct, evidence-based care to patients as directed by the physician or RN.
  • Assist with medical procedures, monitoring, and other tasks as required.
  • Conduct lab and procedural tests within the LPN scope of practice after demonstrating proficiency.
  • Accurately document care provided in the patient medical record in a timely manner.
  • Act as a resource for department staff, students, and volunteers to ensure quality patient care.
Qualifications:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • IV Therapy certification must be obtained within one year of employment.
  • Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
