Position: Interventional Radiology Technologist

Location: Kings Mills Hospital

Role Overview

The Interventional Radiology Technologist will support the Licensed Practitioner in executing fluoroscopic and specialized interventional procedures while adhering to sterile techniques. Responsibilities include preparing, administering, and documenting activities related to medications and radiation exposure in compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as facility policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts high-quality diagnostic vascular examinations utilizing ultrasound and physiological testing equipment to assess cerebrovascular, peripheral arterial, and venous systems, following established protocols unless clinical deviations are necessary.
  • Prepares patients for procedures by explaining the process and providing instructions to ensure optimal results, enhance cooperation, and reduce patient anxiety.
  • Communicates with referring physicians or relevant medical personnel for clarification prior to performing exams if there are concerns regarding the accuracy of the exam order.
  • Utilizes the hospital's electronic medical record system to review patient information, enter preliminary reports, and document critical findings in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Completes assigned tasks within appropriate timeframes based on situational demands.
  • Exhibits behaviors aligned with the Mission and Values of Bon Secours Mercy Health and adheres to standards and policies set forth by the Corporate Responsibility program, including compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and reporting any suspected unethical or unlawful practices.
  • Follows all safety standards, infection control policies, and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing non-invasive vascular examinations.
  • Possesses knowledge of vascular anatomy, examination procedures, interpretation criteria, and the correlation of vascular lab results with other hospital procedures.

Licensing and Certification Requirements

Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is required.

BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is preferred upon hire and must be obtained from an approved source prior to direct patient care.

ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is preferred.

Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) is preferred.

Vascular-Interventional Radiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) certification is preferred.

State Licensure is preferred unless mandated by the state where the job is performed.

Educational Background

An Associate's degree from an ARRT accredited institution is preferred.

Work Experience

A minimum of 1 year of experience in radiology, including surgical experience with CR, is preferred.

Training Requirements

Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems is preferred.

Experience with Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS) is preferred.
