Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Support Specialist to join our Millwork team in Chaska, MN. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the prototyping process, ensuring quick turn and proper construction to guarantee production safety and readiness.

You will work closely with the Millwork Production Manager and Supervisor to assist with machinery setup, process training, and production jobs. Your expertise in wood joinery methods, Wood Production tools, and machinery safety will be invaluable in ensuring the highest-quality products and services.

In this role, you will also conduct thorough research on industry trends and emerging technologies to stay informed and contribute innovative ideas to the design and manufacturing processes.

As a Production Support Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Attending kickoffs as needed to assist with shortening the sales cycle.
  • Collaborating with Design Engineers to create manufacturable designs.
  • Prototyping Millwork projects efficiently and effectively while following the prototyping SOP.
  • Assisting with production jobs and/or quick turn projects.
  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all prototyping activities.
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.
  • Participating in training sessions to stay current with the latest tools, techniques, and methodologies in millwork and prototyping.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of quality control measures.
  • Mentoring junior team members and fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and skill development.
  • Assisting the Millwork team with equipment maintenance.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-year technical or trade school with a relevant degree preferred.
  • 7 or more years experience in a millwork setting setting up and running machinery.
  • Significant experience with a multitude of wood joinery methods and their applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Wood Production tools and machinery, particularly their safe and proper use, function, and application.
  • Well-versed in understanding wood species and substrates and their use in structural and aesthetic situations.
  • Knowledge of wood finishes, including paints, stains, and clear topcoats.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication skills that support excellent collaboration with a variety of work groups.
  • Detail-oriented to ensure clear actions follow production SOPs.
  • Ability to switch gears quickly and easily to support the needed work function.
  • Active participation in identifying areas of improvement with Millwork leadership and work to develop SOPs that allow us to be world class in our industry.
  • Make the right call with quality decisions, good judgment, and keen problem-solving skills in determining better, more efficient work flows with the same high-quality standard.
  • Drive results, take initiative, and be action-oriented by applying time management and self-management skills every day in order to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
