Sanitation Equipment Operator II

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sanitation Equipment Operator II to join our team at the City Of Corpus Christi. As a key member of our Refuse and Recycling Division, you will be responsible for operating tractor trailer units to support Transfer Station and disposal operations. Your primary duties will include safe collection of residential refuse, recycling, brush, and sludge, as well as operating various types of sanitation equipment such as five axle semi-trailers and construction equipment.
Responsibilities
• Operate two or more types of sanitation equipment, including five axle semi-trailers and construction equipment
• Read maps, use navigation tools and valves, and utilize problem-solving skills
• Work on feet and provide physical labor in areas of the transfer station, landfill, and solid waste yards
• Respond to natural disasters, such as hurricanes, and emergency dispatches to clear streets and highways of fallen trees and debris
• Communicate professionally with the public to inform them of Solid Waste services and attend public and community outreach events
• Train and operate Refuse and Recycling collection vehicles, including automated side-loaders and semi-automated rear loaders
• Perform routine maintenance of assigned equipment, such as greasing joints, checking/adding motor oil, and other tasks
• Train new hires and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience
• Class A CDL for Transfer Station or Class B CDL for Refuse and Recycling at time of hire
