ENGIE North America Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Field Maintenance Specialist to join our team in Richmond, VA. As a Field Maintenance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our renewable energy assets, including wind turbines, solar panels, and battery energy storage systems. Your primary responsibility will be to provide onsite support services, commissioning, and maintenance of these assets to optimize generation availability, improve operational reliability, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide reactive, predictive, and preventive maintenance support for wind turbines, solar panels, and battery energy storage systems
  • Ensure compliance with NERC requirements for inspection, testing, and documentation
  • Develop and implement work plans to optimize maintenance activities and reduce downtime
  • Collaborate with the Director of Field Services to prioritize maintenance activities and allocate resources effectively
  • Conduct routine inspections, prepare oil analysis samples, and use safety tools and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Manage on-site work coordination among contractors and vendors, support technology upgrades, and maintain cleanliness

Requirements:

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in solar generation sites, battery energy storage systems, wind generation sites, utility-scale power plants, substation POI, or controls & instrumentation maintenance
  • Minimum two (2) years of diploma in a technical program where you have learned AC/DC electrical theory, understand reading blueprints and schematics, industrial electrical equipment including breakers, disconnects, transformers, contactors, or Equivalent Military or Trade school
  • HV experience with trades qualifications and certifications acceptable (HV Lineman, Electrician, Substation Technician, or Controls Technician)
  • Obtain AVO certification or equivalent as substation technician within 12 months of hire date
  • Be proficient in using and maintaining SCADA systems

Location: Richmond, VA, with frequent travel to other solar plants for emergencies and outages

Travel Requirements: Must be available to travel domestically up to 70% of the time and willing to work remotely for periods of time to support our operational assets
