About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Turbomachinery Bearings Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Lunar Transportation business unit, you will play a critical role in the development of our Blue Moon lander product lines.

Your primary responsibility will be to design and develop advanced liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen pumps for our lunar lander. This will involve specifying, designing, and procuring bearings for multiple cryogenic pumps, as well as collaborating with our team to ensure the successful integration of these components into our overall system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop advanced liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen pumps for our lunar lander
  • Specify, design, and procure bearings for multiple cryogenic pumps
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure successful integration of pump components into the overall system
  • Work closely with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program
Requirements
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 5+ years of experience in turbomachinery bearing design engineering
  • Experience in turbomachinery design, material selection, and tribology
  • Experience planning, defining instrumentation, and post-processing bearing tests
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly collaborate with external parties including government and commercial entities
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired Qualifications
  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area
  • Experience with cryogenic applications
  • Experience in all phases of turbomachinery life cycle in flight vehicle applications
