Key Responsibilities:

The Automation Technician plays a crucial role in collaborating with both the Maintenance and Production teams to enhance safety and optimize the rebar fabrication processes. This position entails applying engineering principles, algorithms, and techniques to troubleshoot and refine both the processes and equipment, as well as to devise and implement future enhancement strategies. Responsibilities will encompass both hardware and software aspects and may necessitate additional support beyond standard business hours. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including the potential for both planned and unplanned overtime, weekends, and holidays as required. This role is inherently regional, necessitating regular travel to various Nucor locations to proactively identify improvement opportunities, address existing challenges, train fellow team members, assist with regional maintenance, and exchange best practices. The area Supervisor/Manager may assign additional duties as needed.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Degree in Process, Electrical, or Automation Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proficiency in understanding complex control systems
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Solid grasp of the overall maintenance process and electrical principles, including:
    • Networking tools and standards
    • Ability to interpret electrical schematics for installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment
    • Basic knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with aSa software
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in a reinforcing steel fabrication setting
