Overview
The System Administrator plays a critical role in the implementation, support, and optimization of healthcare software applications used in medical facilities. The specialist works closely with clinical staff, IT teams, and vendors to ensure the software meets the operational needs of the healthcare organization. This role involves troubleshooting issues, training end users, and ensuring that the applications comply with healthcare standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
• Application Management:
o Install, configure, and maintain healthcare software applications, including electronic health records (EHR), practice management systems, and billing software.
o Monitor application performance and troubleshoot system issues to ensure continuous functionality and availability.
o Collaborate with IT teams to implement updates, patches, and new modules for healthcare software applications.
o Customize applications to align with clinical workflows, improving efficiency and patient care.
• Support and Troubleshooting:
o Provide technical support to end users, addressing application-related issues, diagnosing problems, and offering timely solutions.
o Escalate complex issues to the software vendor or internal IT team as needed.
o Ensure minimal disruption to clinical workflows during system downtime or updates.
• Training and User Engagement:
o Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for clinical and administrative staff on proper use of healthcare applications.
o Act as a liaison between users and the IT department to address concerns and ensure applications meet clinical needs.
• Regulatory Compliance and Data Security:
o Ensure that all applications meet healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and other relevant healthcare standards.
o Work closely with the information systemssecurity team to ensure patient data protection, access control, and compliance with data privacy regulations.
• Workflow Optimization:
o Assess clinical and administrative workflows to identify areas where healthcare applications can enhance efficiency and accuracy.
o Lead initiatives to improve application performance, data integration, and automation of processes.
• Vendor Management:
o Collaborate with third-party vendors to manage the lifecycle of healthcare applications, including procurement, updates, and maintenance agreements.
o Communicate with vendors to resolve issues, negotiate contracts, and explore new software solutions that can benefit the organization.
Qualifications
• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience:
o 3+ years of experience working with healthcare applications such as EHR systems (., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) or practice management software preferred.
o Experience in healthcare IT support, clinical informatics, or similar roles preferred.
o Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and clinical operations preferred.
• Skills:
o Proficiency in healthcare software applications (EHR, 3rd party software).
o Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with healthcare professionals.
o Knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards (HIPAA, HITECH, .
