BIM/VDC Layout Specialist

As a BIM/VDC Layout Specialist at Nooter Construction, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that construction sites are accurately marked in accordance with design specifications and project requirements. Your expertise in operating robotic total stations will be essential in translating engineering drawings into precise physical layouts.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Robotic Total Station Operation: Utilize advanced total station equipment to measure critical distances, angles, and elevations with exceptional precision. Employ electronic data collectors and surveying software to capture and analyze field data.
2. Site Layout Execution: Convert design plans and engineering schematics into tangible markings on the construction site. Establish benchmarks, layout points, and control lines to facilitate the installation of essential components such as equipment, hangers, and structural supports.
3. Quality Assurance: Perform regular assessments to confirm the accuracy and uniformity of layout markings. Collaborate with the on-site quality control team to rectify any discrepancies and ensure adherence to project standards.
4. Collaboration with Construction Teams: Work closely with Construction Supervisors, Foremen, and Subcontractors to convey layout directives and address any challenges that may arise during the construction process.
5. Coordination with Design Teams: Engage with Design Leads and Project Engineers to communicate any design modifications or field adjustments that occur throughout the construction phase.
6. As-Built Documentation: Aid in documenting as-built conditions by conducting field surveys and updating layout drawings accordingly. Provide precise data for the creation of record drawings and final project documentation.
7. Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures while on construction sites. Maintain awareness of potential hazards and take necessary precautions to ensure personal and team safety.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential Skills:

• Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in survey measurements and layout markings. Ability to follow established procedures and standards meticulously.
• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in dynamic construction environments with changing project conditions and timelines. Strong prioritization and multitasking skills.
• Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with design and construction teams, contractors, and clients.
• Analytical Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve layout discrepancies and interpret complex design requirements.
• Construction Knowledge: Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and terminology, along with the ability to read and interpret construction specifications and technical drawings.
• Design Software Proficiency: Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks/Revizto is a plus.
• OSHA 30 Certification: Required for safety compliance.
• Willingness to Travel: Ability to relocate or travel for short-term assignments as needed.
