Administrative Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of nursing aides in alignment with existing regulations and standards that govern the long-term care environment.


  • Ensure adherence to the established policies and procedures by all nursing staff under your supervision.


  • Regularly assess the department's guidelines, procedural manuals, and job descriptions, providing suggestions for updates as necessary.


  • Collaborate with your nursing team and support staff to strategize the services, programs, and activities for each shift.


  • Maintain the Nursing Service Procedures Manual to ensure it accurately reflects the daily nursing practices conducted within the facility.


  • Guarantee that all nursing personnel adhere to the protocols outlined in the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.


  • Prepare written and verbal reports or recommendations regarding your shift's activities as required.
  • Work in conjunction with other resident services to coordinate nursing care, ensuring a comprehensive approach to resident care.


  • Confirm that all nursing staff comply with their designated job descriptions.
  • Engage in the development, maintenance, and execution of the facility's quality assurance initiatives for the nursing department.


  • Participate in facility evaluations conducted by authorized regulatory bodies as requested.
  • Review and update the resident's discharge plan as necessary.


  • Assist in formulating the nursing services component of the resident's discharge plan as needed.
  • Clarify the department's policies and procedures to staff, residents, visitors, and regulatory agencies as required.


  • Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents as necessary.
  • Complete incident reports as needed.
  • Prepare resident billing slips and submit them to the Business Office.
  • Maintain the Daily Census Report and provide it to the Business Office as required.
  • Execute administrative tasks such as filling out medical forms, reports, evaluations, and charting as necessary.


  • Commit to safeguarding assigned user ID codes and passwords for accessing resident and facility information, promptly reporting any suspected breaches to the Administrator.


  • Uphold the confidentiality of resident health information and report any suspected violations to the Administrator.
  • Notify of any known or suspected unauthorized attempts to access the facility's information systems.
