Job Summary:

As a Laboratory Aide at Lutheran Hospital, you will play a vital role in the laboratory team, processing and analyzing lab specimens to support patient care. Under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor and guidance of the Technical Coordinator, you will perform a variety of waived and moderate complexity analytical determinations on patient body fluid and tissue samples. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will ensure accurate test data is provided to physicians and hospital staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Process and accession lab specimens, including body fluids, tissues, and cultures.
  • Perform analytical determinations on patient specimens using established protocols.
  • Provide support to technical staff through instrument maintenance, scanning reports, filing, and inventory management.
  • Answer phones and call for patient information and results as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED; college-level coursework in healthcare-related fields or biology preferred.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Registration, certification, or licensure not required.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing, reporting procedures, specimen collection, and processing.
  • Understanding of normal growth, development, and related behaviors across the lifespan.
  • Basic analytical and organizational skills to provide accurate test data.
  • Ability to maintain working relationships with laboratory and hospital staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
